Position The Associate Scientist I will be responsible for strategy
implementation and operations for conducting and summarizing
non-clinical in vitro studies internally and externally in the
support of new drug evaluations. Design, coordinate, and report
pre-clinical pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic in vitro
experiments within research projects as part of target validation,
target maturation, or mode-of-action studies. Develop and improve
in vitro models supporting non-clinical studies, take an active
role in research projects, and contribute to innovation by
identifying and exploring new therapeutic targets and principles.
Communicate evaluations and implications of in vitro data
internally, externally, and in regulatory submissions as relevant.
Often demonstrates high subject matter knowledge. Sets directions
and deliver results in own role which have direct impact within or
outside the unit. Provides support on defined issues and
contributes through application of expertise and knowledge. Often
requires the ability to handle more complex tasks and with few or
no defined procedures in place. Problems require solution through a
choice between known alternatives, within the area of expertise and
direct manager will evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness
of the solution. Might be entirely independent or just need
occasional guidance from manager/senior colleagues. Hands-on work
of moderate to high complexity; responsible for recommending
timelines for assays & drafting & executing experimental plans to
meet study deadlines; provides scientific input to biology or
technical challenges or target identification; analyses &
interprets data of moderate complexity with limited input from
supervisor; makes independent decisions related to day to day
experimental activities; develops, optimizes, & drafts protocols
for methods of moderate complexity with no input from supervisor,
activities of high complexity with reduced input; presents ideas &
data to team, site, & global project teams; May mentor or directly
supervise less experienced team members based on business need,
skill, and/or interest. Relationships Reports to of the head of the
related research area. Internal relationships include working
closely with technical staff & other members of the scientific
leadership team; regular collaborations with members of other
research departments at Novo Nordisk; & frequent interaction with
project managers & other colleagues in Denmark. Individual may
interact with external research collaborators both academia- &
industry-based. Essential Functions Designing and coordinating
pre-clinical in vitro experiments Develop experimental protocols
for in vitro studies Coordinate with internal and external
stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of experiments Ensure
compliance with ethical and regulatory guidelines for animal
studies Monitor and troubleshoot experimental procedures to ensure
data quality and integrity Hands on experience working with
IPSC-derived neuronal cell models and assays required Develop
neuronal cell models and functional assays and conduct experiments
using these models and assays Perform Western blot, QPCR, DNA, RNA
and protein extraction from cells and tissues Analyze in vitro data
using appropriate statistical methods Generate comprehensive
reports summarizing experimental findings Present data to internal
teams and external stakeholders Provide insights and
recommendations based on data analysis Contributing to target
validation and mode-of-action studies Collaborate with
cross-functional teams to identify and validate therapeutic targets
Design and execute in vitro experiments to investigate target
function and mechanism of action Contribute to the interpretation
and integration of in vitro data into overall project strategy
Qualifications BS/BA Degree and 4 years’ relevant technical
experience required; or master’s degree and 2 years’ relevant
experience can be considered Expertise in target validation, target
maturation, or mode-of-action studies Proven experience in
developing and improving in vitro models supporting non-clinical
studies Strong track record of communicating and presenting in
vitro data internally, externally, and in regulatory submissions
Demonstrated ability to contribute to innovation by identifying and
exploring new therapeutic targets and principles The base
compensation range for this position is $81,010 to $145,820. Base
compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This
position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual
and company performance. Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive
