to the best of my knowledge. Job Description OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE
Organizational leader with responsibilities and strategic influence
across multiple functions and/or external collaborations
Responsible for managing and overseeing compound management
scientists and operations at Takeda research sites in Boston,
Shonan Japan and drives strategic planning for Compound Management
growth, operational excellence and best-practices and ensure
compliance with regulatory agencies and organizational laws and
regulations. In collaboration with key stakeholders, drives
effective strategic planning for chemical library expansion
optimization, management and improvements in compound management
related software solutions. Directs the planning, design, sourcing,
development, implementation, and maintenance of high-throughput
laboratory workflows, automation systems and technical
infrastructure including robotic equipment, instruments, software,
and databases. Directs the functional operations supporting small
molecule and biologics sample management and high-throughput
deployment of assay-ready plates for high- and medium-throughput
screening Leverage GCM’s experience in research lab automation,
operations and processing across all of Takeda Research. Advances
GCM department to proactively identify and meet the evolving needs
of global Takeda Research, such as the broadening scope of diverse
large molecule sample management, as well as other opportunities
ACCOUNTABILITIES ?Ensures continuous operation and maintenance of
high-throughput laboratory workflows, automation systems and
technical infrastructure Manages all aspects of small molecule
compound management including additions to library, archiving and
deployment of sample plates supporting screening assays
internally/externally Develops and implements long term maintenance
and replacement strategies for department capital systems, driven
by performance monitoring, capacity utilization, leveraging
awareness of new technologies Develops and ensures long-term
alliances between GCM and Global IT department so as to leverage
Systems Engineering’s experience in research lab automation,
workflows, operations, integration, and processing across all of
Takeda Research Optimizes outsourcing model building robust global
logistical frameworks for physical sample shipment including import
and export Works to identify and act on opportunities to advance
GCM to meet the evolving needs of global Takeda Research, such as
the broadening scope of diverse large molecule sample management,
as well as other opportunities Accountable for the development of
organizational culture and capabilities DIMENSIONS AND ASPECTS
Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise Outstanding expertise and
depth of knowledge within compound management Keeps up with the
up-to-date scientific advancement (e.g. competitive landscape, new
technology, new research portfolio, and new partnership) Expertise
with all aspects of designing, integrating, deploying, and
maintaining data-driven high-availability high-throughput
laboratory automation systems Expertise managing the full life
cycle of capital projects from conceptualization, process
development and workflow design, budgetary development, budgetary
approval, suppler management, requirements and system documentation
to on-time/on-budget execution and reporting Expertise with
software/database/equipment technical infrastructure and
integration, including data modelling, software
development/testing/maintenance/configuration management/deployment
(preferrably C#, VB.NET and .NET framework), database
development/maintenance (preferrably Oracle and PL/SQL
schemas/tables/views/packages/functions/procedures/triggers),
robotic and liquid handling equipment protocol development
Expertise with monitoring/reporting equipment performance and
capacity utilization metrics, liquid handling quality control
methods Leadership Has significant organizational leadership
responsibility, including primary responsibility for Global
Compound Management and as a member of the Hit Generation and In
Vitro Pharmacology team Expertise managing a multi-disciplinary
team supporting all aspects of high-throughput laboratory
workflows, automation systems and technical infrastructure to
ensure operational excellence Experience cultivating and developing
relationships geographic and functional responsibilities to
leverage opportunities to advance GCM to meet the evolving needs of
global Takeda Research Decision-making and Autonomy Independently
manages workload and expectations Scientifically independent
Scientific driver for research strategy that impacts group
internally and outside area of function Interaction Initiates and
leads external interactions and collaborations with key suppliers
and contract research organizations Frequent contact with internal
and external personnel at various management levels Builds
alliances with local Facilities, EHS, IT, Structural Biology and
Biophysics departments, as well as Drug Discovery Units across
therapeutic areas Builds alliances between GCM and Global IT
department so as to leverage GCM’s experience in research lab
automation, operations and processing across all of Takeda Research
I nnovation Determines methods on new assignments; makes strategic
recommendations on projects EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND
SKILLS Desirable - PhD degree in a scientific discipline with 12
years experience , or MS with 16 years experience, or BS with 18
years experience 7 years of Industry experience required 7 years of
managerial experience required Good communication skill to

U.S. Base Salary Range: $169,400.00 - $266,200.00 The estimated
salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The
actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors,
including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the
position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills,
level of education attained, certifications or other professional
licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or
from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary
offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage
requirements for the job location. U.S. based employees may be
eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based
