Testthealgorithmimplementations usingidealized testcasesand realistic applications\. Document thecode\.+ Plan,coordinate,andassistin numerical experiments for regionalapplications\.+ Developtoolstocompare observationaldata tonumericalmodeling results,evaluate data to ensure data integrity; process data foranalysis, display,archive,and test hypotheses\.+ Provide generaltechnical servicesandexpertise to scientists, engineers,and technicians on a broadrangeof objectivesand supportrequirements for field and modeling studies ofcoastaland marine geology\.**Fie** **l** **d** **Pr** **o** **g** **r** **a** **m** **O** **p** **e** **r** **at** **io** **ns** **:**+ Supportscientificstaffforplanning,designing,andperformingfieldstudiestocollectdatainsupportofcoastalchangeprocesses\.Thesedatawillbeusedtotestandvalidatenumericalapplicationsforregionalstudies\.**O** **f** **f** **i** **c** **e** **D** **u** **t** **i** **e** **s:**+ Collaborateonorleadtheproductionofpeer\-reviewedpapersontheresultsofworkcompleted,includingimplementationofnewcodes,validationofresults,andapplicationstoregionalstudies\.+ Preparepresentationsasrequestedontheresultsofcompletedwork\.+ ProvideinputonscientificgoalsandbudgetaryrequirementsformeetingtheUSGSCoastalChangeHazards Project mission and its obligations to external agencies\.+ Disseminate and visualize numerical modeldataand field observations viaan online data portal\.**Qualifications****Minimum Qualifications:**+ Ph\.D\.incivil,environmental,coastal,aerospace,orcomputerengineeringisrequired\. At least one year of postdoctoralexperiencepreferred\.+ Abilitytoextendand modifyexistingtechniques to solve a variety oftechnical problems\.+ Skill andexperience in high performancecomputing and numericalcodedevelopment usingFORTRANandMatlab necessary; knowledgeandexperience in python, perl, Java,and html5 a plus\.+ Skillin development of numerical algorithms and incorporation into model systems\.+ Dissemination/acquisition ofdata using CFconventions via Thematic Real\-time Environmental Distributed Data Services \(THREDDS\) data dissemination methods\.+ Knowledgeandexperience in oceanographic data, sedimenttransport processes, physical oceanography,and oceanengineering\.+ Skill andexperience tomaintain, program, and run numerical oceanographic models, includingCOAWST, Regional Ocean ModellingSystem \(ROMS\),andSimulatingWavesNearshore \(SWAN\)\.+ Abilitytocommunicate in writingin a professionalmanner\.
