Job Description:
Position Summary/ Department Summary: This role will have a
future start date of December 2025 in Needham, MA.
Perioperative/PACU program. This would be 5, 8.5 hour days
beginning around 6:30 am. Key Responsibilities: The Child Life
Specialist will: - Participate in therapeutic activities and
programs to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs,
and facilitate adjustment to health care experiences in Periop
department - Serve as member of multidisciplinary team. - Delegate
work assignments to volunteers and participate in clinical training
of student interns. Minimum Qualifications Education: - Bachelor's
degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field
with a concentration in child life. - 600-hour Child Life
internship under the supervision of a certified child life
specialist. Experience: - General skills to resolve problems
requiring the use of child development theory, professional child
life principles, and experienced?based knowledge. - Well-developed
writing skills, and excellent communication skills including
conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.
Licensure/ Certifications: Certification in Child Life Specialist
required within 1 year of hire for all new hires. Boston Children’s
