Job Description:
Job Description Job Description The Senior Experimental
Physicist plays an integral role in advancing the company’s laser
plasma X-ray generation technology through hands-on involvement in
the design, building, and data analysis of experimental systems and
components. Reporting to the Chief Science Officer, the
Experimental Physicist will bring new ideas to the table to bring
laser- driven X-ray generation into the mainstream. As part of a
small team, the Senior Experimental Physicist manages Research and
Development activities to achieve goals on time and budget. The
Senior Experimental Physicist is essential in multiple projects
relating to the laser-driven X-ray generation platform. The
projects include designing experiments, developing X-ray source
hardware and optical components, and gathering and analyzing
experimental data. A successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in
physics or a related field such as applied physics, physical
chemistry, engineering, or the equivalent combination of education
and previous relevant experience. Significant experience and
advanced knowledge in designing, conducting, and analyzing
experimental data in the fields of laser-matter interactions,
ultrafast optics, or image analysis is desirable. Advanced
knowledge of physics, optics, or laser systems and experience
working with electromechanical components. Experience with subsets
of laser systems, optics, vacuum systems, electronics, and
data-acquisition systems. Experience with laboratory ultrafast
laser systems, including laser pulse characterization and
alignment. Significant experience performing complex engineering
and mathematical assignments is required. The exact domain of
expertise is less important than a demonstrated ability to develop
rigorous experimental and testing routines for complex physical
systems. Strong skills in analytical programming or scripting
languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Mathematica, etc.), as well as CAD
(e.g. Solidworks), are highly preferred. Demonstrated ability to
set and maintain project timelines and to manage multiple
priorities with budget and schedule constraints consistently.
Additionally, strong written and verbal communication skills,
including presenting complex technical topics to a diverse
audience.
