Job Description:
Duties: Develops fundamental industry modeling that provides key
input into the Sector Selector Pilot Portfolio, with a focus on China.
Develops and maintains econometric programming and complex quantitative
models to inform fundamental equity research, including secular, business cycles,
and tactical trades. Primary Responsibilities: • Provides accurate and clean data and charts to broader
organization. • Performs econometric programming and charting in tactical
and cyclical asset allocation. • Designs complex macroeconomic models to predict major market
and economic developments. • Conducts asset class projects and thematic investment
research. • Gathers critical data to monitor tactical and strategic
positions held across the various asset allocation strategies. • Builds secular views of long-term inflation and commodity
trends based on demographics, monetary policy, and fundamental
analysis. • Works with active asset allocation investment and research
teams to build both strategic and dynamic asset allocation
recommendations based on inflation and commodities work. • Initiates timely and relevant ad hoc research pieces
highlighting important macro or market developments. • Communicates research findings, investment views, and recommendations through regular meetings, reports, and
one-on-one direct exchanges with portfolio managers and analysts. Requirements: Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent)
in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, Business
Administration, Mathematics, or a closely related field and two (2) years of
experience in the job offered or two (2) years of experience performing
econometric programming and modeling. Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) performing extraction and complex time series
analysis for economic and market data using EViews 9.5 and Business R;
designing equity sectors screening and portfolio construction processes using
Haver Analytics and Bloomberg; and generating visual insights using
software tools (FactSet Professional Terminal and Microsoft VBA); DE
building fundamental econometric industry selection models using EViews
9.5 and equity style factor rotation models based on the analysis of
macroeconomic factors --interest rate environment, inventories, productivity,
and flow of funds; DE developing econometric models to quantify the impact
of Chinese related macro events on market movements, including Chinese
capital outflows, equity market correction, currency devaluation,
property markets, and economic policy shifts; DE performing econometric
programming and modeling to inform fundamental equity research, including asset
